Dennis Fradin

Born in Chicago in 1945 and wanted to become an author since the first grade. He attended Chicago public schools--Field and Armstrong Elementary--until sixth grade, and loved it. Most of what he needed to learn as a writer he learned from his experience as a Chicago public school student. He had a particular teacher he loved--Mrs. Domer--for both fourth and sixth grades. She taught her students how to work hard on projects from beginning to end, and made them take note cards and make outlines for our projects. He does those same things now when he is writing children's books. He is the author of more than 150 books (some with his wife Judy) ranging from the 52 From Sea to Shining Sea State Books and 9 books about the planets to books about the Chicago civil rights leader Ida B. Wells, the Underground Railroad, Ben Franklin, and the Declaration of Independence. He works on his books every day of the year and loves it!
